The Phone Call
As with conquering any addiction or changing any bad habit, the journey to lifestyle change weight loss is a three-step approach: Acknowledge the need to do so. Accept that you can’t do it alone. Reach out to us for help. At Weight*No*More Diet CenterSM, our relationship with clients begins with that phone call. We understand the emotions that lead up to it. All of our counselors are seasoned women with the wisdom of age and life’s experiences and challenges. In a personable, friendly and informative manner, they strive, right from the first phone call, to begin to earn your trust and respect.
The Consultation
The initial office visit is by appointment only and usually runs 45 minutes to an hour, sometimes longer. First, the counselor will settle upon and discuss goal and maintenance weights. Age, height, current weight, medical/physical issues are all contributing factors to the goal weight that will be set. We stress that the counselor will tell you what your goal and maintenance weights should be because we are here to get you slim—not the slimmest you want to be, and not the slimmest you’ve ever been, especially if in those scenarios you’d still be overweight! If you do not get to a weight that can be stabilized and maintained, you will gain it all back.
We begin each consultation with a visual explanation of what fat cells/skinny cells are and how they relate to the metabolism. We want to make it very clear to clients what those two awful words ‘gaining weight’ really mean! We then discuss the series of weight loss programs that each client will go through——Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Final Lifestyles; followed by a six-week Stabilization program and a 26-week Maintenance program——each perfectly balanced amongst the foods groups; low protein/high fiber, low fat/high complex carbohydrate. These weight loss programs are personalized for the wide variety of clients we serve: men and women, adolescents and teens; those with medical issues such as diabetes, IBS and Crohn’s, PCOS, heart disease, insulin resistance and cancer; pregnant and nursing women. Additionally, those who come to learn how to eat right and who do not need to lose weight, must be serviced differently from those who do. We answer questions, discuss fees and policies, and never hesitate to provide references if requested.
We pride ourselves on being honest and transparent, and we go out of our way to make sure our clients fully understand the Program and what is expected of them as participants. When a client joins our Program, he or she is given a clear and concise receipt that spells out all aspects of his or her program—including, his or her weight, goal weight, and the number of weeks of service he or she has paid for. Prior to a client beginning the Program, we confirm in writing with each of our clients that he or she fully understands and agrees to every aspect of the Program as well as confirm that all of his or her questions were answered to his or her full satisfaction.
The Service
After joining the program, we encourage clients to visit with us at
two to three times
a week whenever possible. The more we see a client, the more value they get. The more a client comes in to see us, the more disciplined they are when they are not with us because they know they are coming to see us! Visits to the office are not by appointment; clients can come in any time during business hours. We see clients only in private, one-on-one. Each visit begins with a private weigh-in, after which counselors will check journals, help plan personal daily menus, provide cooking tips and recipes, change programs at certain benchmarks, provide clients with copies of news articles or reference sheets of interest to them, and encourage, motivate and inspire clients to stay focused and on track. During these visits clients can speak freely, in confidence, about issues at home or at school or on the job; anything they want to share with us. We get to know our clients very well because we genuinely care about them. We understand that food is an emotional response for many, so the more we understand the circumstances or factors that affect a client’s environment; the better we are able to help them. Additionally, not only do we call clients on a weekly basis, but clients have our home and cell phone numbers; we are always available to them.
After working long-distance for many years with local clients who cannot visit with us for long stretches of time— ‘snowbirds’ who spend winters in Florida, those away for the summers, college students living at campus—we have perfected the art of keeping them on track via weekly emails, phone conversations and weight loss call-ins from their out-of-town locations. In this way, clients are focused while away from their more controlled home environments. Slowly, through word-of-mouth referrals from these clients and others, we developed a clientele who reside in states other than our location areas … and, through the advent of Skype technology, we are able to not only service our long-distance clients by phone, but add a more personalized WebCam Weight LossCounseling service to those wanting to engage with us in this manner. The passion, and compassion, that we bring to each and every long-distance client over the phone is magnified by the video presence. WebCam Weight Loss Counseling is done by appointment only. Clients must have Skype (you can download Skype for free at www.skype.com) and a webcam attached to their computer. It doesn’t matter where you live. If you want to lose weight, if you want to make a change, you need a partner, someone to push from behind, pull from the front and know that you’re accountable to counselors who care about you, who will teach you how to GET slim the same way they STAY slim year after year.
The Fees
There is a $150 enrollment charge, and our service fee is based on $45 per week. We do not take weekly payments. The individualized program cost will be based on the number of weight loss weeks needed, and there are several ways that clients can choose to pay for their program. We offer great discounts and other incentives to those who choose to pay in full for a program; and for clients with financial issues or for whatever reason cannot pay in full---seniors on fixed incomes, working teenagers or college students paying their own way, single parents--we will work out a payment plan for these individuals. Our goal is to help people … not to turn them away.
The Difference
At Weight*No*More Diet CenterSM we offer our clients a true first class, personalized weight loss service, going above and beyond to help people. If we can accommodate a client’s changing schedule by seeing them outside of normal business hours, we do. We keep things fresh and current by updating the programs and their associated menus every year. New recipes are shared with clients every month. Holidays menus and recipes are done each year for Passover, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Waiting room reading material on lifestyle, nutrition, health and motivational issues are always in abundance and ever-changing. We guide clients through restaurant menus. We help clients break down their own recipes to classify them into the various food groups. We research a client’s diagnosis, prescribed medication or medical protocol to better assist them. We update the web site regularly.
There are many other weight loss programs. Any program will work, we suppose, if you follow it exactly. When considering what weight loss approach you will take, ask yourself what you would do if your young child was overweight. Would you give a child diet pills? Injections? Would you put your child on the Cookie Diet? Atkins? South Beach? Shakes? Hypnosis? Balls behind the ear? Low-calorie starvation? High-sodium, high-sugar packaged foods? If the answer to all of these questions is ‘No’, then remember ... what’s not good for your children cannot be good for you. Practice what you preach. Never attempt to lose weight in a manner that is NOT healthy or safe enough for all members of your family, regardless of age or whether they are overweight or not.
At Weight*No*More Diet CenterSM most of our clients are referrals, from other clients and physicians. They know the distinctions between our programs and services and those of others in the weight loss industry:
- Other weight loss programs may require agreements or contracts. With us, there is nothing to sign.
- Other weight loss programs are most often large, national or multinational corporations. We are a small, family-owned business whose owners are actively involved on a daily basis, with significant personal commitments to the success of the business as well as to our clients.
- Other weight loss programs make money from packaged food products, diet drinks or shakes, pills or medications they sell. We don’t sell anything.
- Other weight loss programs show you how to diet with cheesecake and pizza, shakes, bars and pills, etc. We teach you how to change your lifestyle by making better decisions in a healthy, balanced way from each of the food groups, using your own food that you buy in the supermarket.
- Other weight loss programs and practitioners distribute paper to read and decipher, giving you daily nutrient percentages to figure out and achieve on your own. We work with clients individually at each stage of their program——weight loss, stabilization and maintenance——to help plan personal daily menus. Taking into account work, travel, school or social schedules, and/or the wide range of ages and medical issues, counselors will generate customized eating plans, including what to eat, how much to eat, and what time to eat, as well as provide cooking tips and recipes.
- Other weight loss programs are oftentimes too liberal with goal weight expectations, setting goal weights that are easy to reach but impossible to maintain. We set goal weights we know you must achieve in order to maintain.
- Other weight loss programs often have employees who are not in motivating shape. With us, every counselor is slim and has gone through the program. They practice what they preach. They guide clients to get slim in the manner in which they themselves stay slim.
- Other weight loss programs are group centered. We see clients only in private, one-on-one.
- Other weight loss programs do not reach out to clients on a regular basis. We call clients every week to keep them focused and motivated and to confirm next visits.
- Other weight loss programs are available to you during business hours only. With us, regardless of which location you join, you may call (or visit) any location for service. Additionally, clients have home and cell contact information for access to the owners at any time, day or night, for any reason.
Weight*No*More Diet CenterSM has been in business for a very long time, not because we tell clients what’s good for them and what’s bad for them; they already know that——and so do you. Rather, in a very personal, guided way we teach clients how much and how often and why those two factors are the keys to metabolism, blood sugar maintenance, and healthy long-lasting weight loss.
Don’t wait until you’re “ready.” We are never “ready” to begin a journey that we wish we didn’t have to take. If you know the path you are on is the wrong one, make a right turn and reach out to us. All you need to complete the journey successfully is discipline, guidance, structure and accountability— and nobody does that better than we do!
